Have you ever asked yourself, “whatever happened to the family doctor?” You know, the one who makes house calls, takes the time to listen to your questions, answers them clearly and thoroughly, and even picks up the phone when you call? Well, you’ll be glad to know that old-fashioned family medicine is still alive and well in Malibu.
I’m Dr. David Baron, a graduate of Amherst College and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School, a residency-trained, Board Certified Family Medicine Specialist, previous Chief of Staff at UCLA-Santa Monica Medical Center, former Executive Director of the UCLA Student Health Center, and a regular medical expert commentator for KNX1070 Newsradio. I’ve been practicing in Malibu since 1991 and have watched the practice of medicine become more of a business and less a profession of caring and concern.
In 2004 I created “Primary Caring of Malibu,” a practice designed to allow me to provide you with a level of access and attention you may have forgotten – or may never have experienced. It’s a modern medical practice with state-of-the-art technologies and old-fashioned values, so patients can once again feel a personal connection with their doctor.
Primary Caring uses a model sometimes referred to as “concierge medicine.” That doesn’t mean we’ll make dinner or hotel reservations for you. It means that I focus my attention on a much smaller number of patients than the typical family doctor, and each patient or family pays an annual membership fee. That allows my staff and me the time to give you the kind of careful, professional, comprehensive, and compassionate care you deserve. We’ll coordinate your care and make your appointments, referrals, prescription refills, and insurance billing as smooth and easy as possible.
You’ll appreciate having unhurried same or next-day appointments – even for not-so-urgent care. I will even make visits to your home or office, when necessary and appropriate, with my traditional little black doctor’s bag. I am available to my patients 24/7. You’ll have our office number, my mobile phone number, and our email addresses. If you need me, you call, and I’ll respond. It’s that simple.
